"She is mine to protect, mine to shelter, mine to feed and mine to cover. When she is weak, I shall be her strength. She was stolen from her world by our captors. Now her survival is my responsibility. It is her duty to endure my lust, respect my nest mates and honour our union with offspring. I revere this giver of life, as is the way."~ Venomous One, formerly of Rök, enslaved gladiator

Abducted from Earth and transported to a slave planet in an unknown galaxy, Lumen finds herself, shackled, naked and put on display before an alien horde. Told the males will battle for the right to slake their lusts with her body, she would become the slave of slaves. Venomous One, a proud warrior enslaved, has given up hope of returning to his home world and finding a life mate. When a female is tossed into the arena his soul demands he claim her. Winning his mate by Right of Might, he vows to protect Lumen and be a good provider, no matter how ugly her human appearance. Rescued by Venomous’ people, the couple face space pirates, the condemnation of an alien government, galactic war, and a deadlier threat from within the warrior’s own kindred.

Warning violence, profanity and sexual situations with multiple partners.

Venomous Alien Warrior Book 1 edition by Penelope Fletcher Romance eBooks

I love alien romance where the h is kidnapped and then sold and/or held captive; combine that h with a kickazz alpha alien hero who's waiting right there, ready to claim her and to mate her by right of might, and I'm all over that story.

I thought the heroine was spunky and sweet with attitude. She's a short, curvy British chick with creamy brown skin, twenty-five years old, far, far from home, and really doing her best with it. Lumen's kind of plump, with fluffy hair in wild corkscrew curls, so small and so human, and so not what the hero's people consider pretty or normal. As for Venomous, he's what I love to read in alien romance: a hero who is not human in appearance. I think the book cover does a good job of showing how he might look. He's serpent-like, with lethal claws and poisonous fangs, golden-green scales, quills that look like dreadlocks, a forked tongue, and four arms! He's the baddest of the bad on this slave planet, and when our h falls into the pit, he's the one who's going to claim her.

It's polyamorous romance, as there are 3 heroes/lovers for Lumen, although Venom is the primary hero. It's a committed relationship with the four of them, and it read like a good ménage romance with each male likable and lovable, fitting into and adding to the relationship with different personalities and expectations. They share Lumen only; there is no m/m contact. There is some sex in public, but it was to do with mating ritual. There's POV from Lumen in first-person and POV from the heroes in third-person, and I really liked having that.

I did notice a few editing errors, nothing major for me, and certainly not enough to harsh my enjoyment of the story. Such a fun read. It's a long story, a lot happening, some action, danger and betrayal, even a little bit of it was sad, but most of all, it came through with the sweet and the romantic, as well as the erotic. Besides enjoying the erotic with its good dirty talk and hot alien males, I was into this world the author built. It was fun and kept my attention, and I could clearly see the people/places she'd imagined for me.

Got this as my Prime pick, and it was fun, sexy, and just a great sci-fi romance. Can't wait to read about ThunderClaw and SnowBlade next. And I've got to read book 2 if only to see a certain somebody. I wanted more on that!

Venomous Alien Warrior Book 1 edition by Penelope Fletcher Romance eBooks Reviews

Extremely loooong drug out story of a human female getting tortured, enslaved, escaping and passed around like a bag of chips. This female heroine is plain Jane from earth and has no unique qualities or any impressive accomplishments. She’s as plain sounding as they come. To top it off when she’s in positions, especially at the end of the book, to speak dignified and in a manor that is respectable and with using words the aliens will understand, SHE DOESNT. She gets all slang ish and starts using earth quotes again that even on earth are ridiculous. I never understand why authors write such rude, stupid sounding heroines. What a terrible way to represent humans to other species. Does hardly no one that gets abducted carry themselves with class?
The book starts off with the female talking of the horrible experiments she went through. But that’s all she says, experiments. She mentions that cut her open and put her back together. But what experiments? She mentions this like it’s horrible (obviously it would have been) but does she not having scarring all over them? Cause that’s never mentioned. It’s never mentioned what they did exactly either. It comes up later in the book that she was experimented on when a complaint is filed...but again then it’s not even spoke of in details or dramatic effect.
MAJOR ISSUE is the sexual nature of the book. It starts off great with a Venom and he’s so sweet and she’s his mate. Okay, wonderful right? Don’t get me started on the bug alien Venom grudgingly says it’s okay to the insect alien if she screws him for protection....wtf?
And all in the long first half it’s like she doesn’t get she’s a mammal type species and does LIVE BIRTH. Even Vemon and the creepy insect alien act like she could and oh it’s whatever if he implanted some seed line sac in her. It’s glanced over like whatever. And for an intergalactic space traveling specifies HOW IS IT NOT OBVIOUS SHE WONT CARRY EGGS?! The frustration and the flaws....omg it was anxiety inducing.
Then it’s like all of a sudden she’s taking a second mate. And then to be accepted in their society even as mated to one of the Ra and to ‘be’ a Ra, which is just crazy cause she’s human, so just call it a citizen then, she has to have sex PUBLICLY (why, WHY IS PUBLIC SEX such a common thing in these alien romances so often?! Are that many people really wanting to be forced to mate to solidify their union in PUBLIC on earth that this topic sells?!) But not only are over 600 beings there to watch in person she also has to allow a THIRD male called a lessor mate mount and ejaculate in her as well to offer her more protection. AND THE THIRD MALE ALREADY HAS WHEN IS EQUIVALENT TO THEIR WIVES. WTF? Even if the wife is horrible, it’s still wrong. And of course Venom gets jealous, but still thinks she should do it and does. And when she protests they’re basically like no you have to do this to get status and be protected blah blah. WHAT A BACKWARDS SOCIETY. It bothered me sooooo bad how she had to put aside all of her beliefs and adapt in a way that humiliated her to all their needs. So much for alpha males and more like moron abusers. OHHHH AND she couldn’t even show that she enjoyed the sex, has orgasms or gets wet naturally. Because that would some how be wrong....because their females aren’t built like that. So she basically just has to lay their as they train ejaculate in her.
There are just so many beating a dead horse situations over and over in this book like the “bonding ceremony” public mating crap, (it even comes up about her potentially taking another mate publicly! Wtf!) that it just ruined the mood. This book could have easily been cut in half and left with a ONE mate situation and it’d have been way more enjoyable.
Also, the main heroine did NOT PROCESS emotions and behaviors as a human being might would in these circumstances. Yes, human behavior varies greatly depending on many variables, this I know because I have degrees in psych, but this chick would get like no I’m not doing that whatever it was complain once and then she’d give in and accept what the males said and all her previous abuse etc. and just basically accept it and move on. There was NO real emotional processing and fight in these situations. So this makes me think that the main plain character must be even lower on the human intelligence and processing scale that she basically turns into a quick to cave non emotional blob. There were so many situations where she should have EXPLAINED and communicated and fought for what she believed in. But she just kept caving. And then there would be no lingering emotional conflict. Uh....?
Would not recommend unless you are running extremely short on anything else to read and if you just don’t much care about how much quality there is. I hate to write such negative reviews....but I’ve got to be truthful. And after some good reviews I saw before downloading it, I was hopeful. But now extremely disappointed.
